Dr Vannessa Leung
Dr Vannessa Leung is a highly skilled general ophthalmologist with particular interest in Cataract, Corneal and Laser Eye Surgery.
She completed her medical degree at the University of New South Wales and undertook ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital where she was awarded Chief Resident. She subsequently undertook further subspecialty fellowships at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital (Melbourne) as well as the world renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital (London, UK). She has since returned home to be invited to work at Sydney Eye Hospital.
Dr Leung values ongoing education with academic teaching appointments at Sydney University, University of New South Wales and University of Tasmania. She lectures and examines for the Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) course and has authored a number of medical education softwares. Dr Leung helps set standards of care by writing protocols in her work at the Therapeutic Goods Administration and the NSW Health Education and Training Institute.
Dr Leung has been awarded multiple national and international awards including from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and New England Journal of Medicine. As an internationally recognised researcher, including for the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Dr Leung prioritises providing evidence-based and patient-centred care.
