Clinical associate professor John Lee is one of the most experienced cataract surgeons in Australia having successfully performed over 20,000 cataract surgeries in his career.
His priority is to provide excellence in vision with the highest level of safety.
Associate Professor Lee performs microincision cataract surgeries under topical drops (anaesthesia) which he introduced into the Illawarra. This technique eliminates possible complications from having a needle into the orbit prior to surgery.
He operates at the Wollongong Day surgery, The Wollongong Private Hospital, Shellharbour Private Hospital, the Wollongong Public Hospital and Shellharbour Public Hospital.
Professor Lee is a comprehensive ophthalmologist. His particular interests are in cataract surgery, glaucoma, macular degeneration and eyelid surgery. He lectures and teaches medical students, doctors and optometrists, and regularly works and lectures overseas in a charitable capacity.
