Ophthalmologists are the only medically trained eye professionals. We became doctors first, then undertook at least another 5 years’ training in eye hospitals. We are trained to look after your eyes comprehensively, medically and surgically.
Dr John Lee began to work in the Illawarra in 2000. Dr Michelle Gajus joined the practice in 2006. They are both general ophthalmologists, and both work exclusively in the Illawarra.
Dr Yves Kerdraon joined the practice in 2007. He is trained as a corneal specialist, and divides his time in Sydney and Illawarra.
Dr James Leong joined us in 2013. He is a vitreoretinal surgeon and medical retinal specialist. Besides working in the Illawarra, he also has a private practice in Miranda. Dr Leong works every second Friday.
Dr Simon Nothling joined us in 2014. He is a medical retinal specialist who also works in Sydney. Dr Nothling works Wednesday afternoons.
Dr Rajiv Shah joined us in 2017. Dr Shah grew up in Wollongong. He previously worked in another Wollongong practice for many years before joining us. Dr Shah specialises in glaucoma treatment. Dr Shah also practices in Sydney. Dr Shah is in our office 3 days every month.
Our beautiful surgery was once used as a church, but it has been extensively remodelled and extended to suit our needs.
